Funeral flowers can say so much about the person being remembered. For Emily's Grandad, his Birmingham City connection became part of a very personal floral tribute created especially for his family.
The story behind the flowers
When I create personalised funeral flowers, I like to understand a little about the person they are for. A photograph, a favourite colour, a football club or another meaningful detail can often provide the starting point for the design.
For this tribute, Emily wanted her Grandad's Birmingham City connection to be recognised. The familiar blue and white colours gave the wreath its direction, while his photograph allowed us to add something that was completely personal to him and his family.
Making it personal
I created a personalised printed and laminated label using Grandad's photograph together with Emily's own message: "Grandad — Miss you always — Emily x."
Details like these can be incorporated naturally into funeral flowers. Depending on the tribute, this might be a treasured photograph, a meaningful emblem or logo, favourite colours, or simply a few words from the family.
The floral design
The funeral wreath was created with a traditional white chrysanthemum base, finished with royal blue ribbon edging and a white and blue floral spray.
The Birmingham City themed centre brought his football connection into the design, while keeping the overall tribute recognisable as a traditional floral wreath.
The finished tribute
Once Emily's personalised label was added, the different parts of the design came together — the flowers, Birmingham City colours, his photograph and her own words.
It is often these small, personal details that make funeral flowers feel connected to the person being remembered rather than simply being a floral arrangement.
